Upper decking, stairs and front walkway are all constructed with Ipe. It is pronounced EE-Pay. It is an incredibly hard wood from Brazil. It has the highest rating for fire resistance and should last 40 years with no treatment and up to 100 years with a top stain applied once a year.
The exterior paint on the sunroom, storage loft and cover is Miller's Evolution paint. It has a lifetime warranty. It has two coats and was thoroughly caulked and primed before it was painted. The siding is hardiplank which was made to look like wood with a wood grain pattern embossed on it.
Inside, the 8' door is made by Andersen. It has 3 panels. It is wood on the inside and fibreglass outside. The hand is Andersen. There is a 4 point locking mechanism in the door. It is the 400 series style.
All of the interior trim work is cedar except the natural railing in the loft. It is made from a maple tree cut locally. The ladder is handmade. It was custom made for the cabin.
The floors are 3/4" solid oak hardwood.
The honeycomb shades in the sunroom are custom made by Bali.
The ceiling is Hunter and has a remote control.
The sink in the kitchen is extra deep. The faucets and sinks in the kitchen and bathroom were new with the addition of the sunroom, as is the hardware on the cabinets and the light fixtures.
